The Vikings put defensive tackle Shamar Stephen on injured reserve, ending his season. The second-year pro was carted off the field in the third quarter Sunday after injuring a toe on his left foot against Kansas City.

Defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis, a five-year NFL veteran, was signed to replace Stephen. The Jamaican-born Ellis was released by the Giants on Oct. 3 after being active for, but not playing in, one game this season. It was the second time they cut him since signing him as a free agent.

Ellis was drafted by the Jets in the third round (94th overall) in 2011 out of Hampton, and played for the Jets four seasons, with five starts.
