Vikings notes: Allen happy for Robison

Age and asking price are two elements that will inhibit Jared Allen and the Vikings from working together beyond this season.

But the Vikings defensive end said now is not the time to be stressing about contracts and a future beyond Sunday's home game against Carolina.

"Honestly, I'm not even worried about that," Allen said Thursday, a day after the team's other starting defensive end, Brian Robison, signed a four-year, $28 million extension.

"I'm in a situation where I've been blessed to have been taken care of and the Lord's been good to me. And that's where I leave it. I leave it in the Lord's hands. Where I'm going to be at is totally up to Him, and I'm receptive to go where He wants me."

Allen is making $14.3 million in the final year of the six-year deal he signed after being acquired in a trade with Kansas City in 2008. He has exceeded high expectations, having never missed a game while notching 81 ½ sacks, four Pro Bowl nods, three first-team All-Pro selections, one league sack title and the franchise season record for sacks (22).

But Allen also will turn 32 in May. He said the two sides aren't negotiating currently.

As for Robison's deal, Allen said: "Good for him. I'm happy. I hope everybody in the league gets paid.

Allen wasn't shy about his feelings on the Vikings' signing of former Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman on Monday.

"I appreciate aggressiveness, I really do," he said. "I think whenever you have an opportunity to try to win, you do that. Obviously that's at a key position and that shakes some things up. I'm glad I'm not in the position to have to deal with it."

The Vikings have some difficult decisions to make at quarterback going forward this season. If you're thinking it's a group decision between General Manager Rick Spielman and the coaching staff as to who starts and plays, Frazier says you'd be wrong.

"That's me and the coaching staff that makes that determination, who is No. 1, who is No. 2, who is No. 3, who is starting, who is not starting," Frazier said. "That's up to the coaching staff."

Kicker Blair Walsh, who is 8-for-9 on field-goal attempts this season, left Thursday's practice early after feeling a "little bit of a twinge" in his left hamstring while kicking off, Frazier said.

"I think he'll be fine, based on what [head athletic trainer] Eric Sugarman said. He should be fine. Just want to be smart."

Running back Adrian Peterson (personal reasons) and receiver Joe Webb (illness) missed practice Thursday. Peterson will be back Friday. As for Webb, Frazier said, "Joe had an illness, a virus, so hopefully he'll be back tomorrow."

Frazier said cornerback Chris Cook (groin) and strong safety Jamarca Sanford (hamstring) are expected to play Sunday after missing the last game against Pittsburgh.
