Vikings make room for Favre on 80-man roster

Jaymar Johnson waived (injured) to clear roster spot after breaking left thumb

August 18, 2010 at 3:57PM

The Vikings officially announced that Brett Favre will hold his press conference immediately following the 11:40 a.m. practice. Favre will indeed practice today, according to the team's website.

The Vikings had to make a roster move to make room for Favre. He had received a did not report exemption, meaning the team could be at 81 players.

The team placed wide receiver Jaymar Johnson on the waived/injured list, according to the team's website.

Johnson broke his left thumb returning a punt in Saturday's preseason opener against the St. Louis. Johnson will have surgery and and typical recovery time is six to eight weeks. That means the team will have to reach an injury settlement with Johnson, who was battling for one of the final receiver spots.
