The Vikings released center Brett Jones on Tuesday to make room on the roster for newly signed receiver Josh Doctson.
Jones, entering his fifth NFL season, is a free agent who could be re-signed by the Vikings when they have a roster opening.
He started three games last season when Pat Elflein was injured.
