The Vikings improved to 4-2 with their first road victory of the season on Sunday, a 28-19 victory in Detroit.

They play Sunday in Chicago, where they haven't won since 2007. Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said teammate Brian Robison told him about that seven-game losing streak in the Windy City.

"I was shocked," Munnerlyn said today at Winter Park. "It's been a long time, especially when I was [playing] in Carolina, these guys had Brett Favre and all that. [Robison] said, 'Yeah, we haven't won down there since 2007, and I was like 'Whoa' … so that's definitely motivation to go down and beat Chicago in Chicago."

The Vikings moved into seventh in the NFL in total defense, and are second in scoring defense, giving up an average of 17 points per game.

The Vikings played Sunday without standout defensive tackle Sharif Floyd (left leg injury). Tom Johnson was among the players who got more reps on the defensive line, and said he's hoping the Vikings will be considered among the league's top defense.

"We're gonna get there, that's the attitude you have to have in this league," Johnson said. "We got the young talent. We're only gonna get better when the depth gets deeper."

The Vikings' only defensive problem Sunday was a poor start; they trailed 17-6 in the first half.

"We started off slow, but we fought back," defensive end Everson Griffen said. "When we're down, we don't give up, and we came back."

As for suddenly higher expectations? Griffen quoted coach Mike Zimmer: "Can't take the cheese."

Zimmer will have his news conference this afternoon, and we'll have updates. The chief injury concern out of Sunday's game appears to be receiver Jarius Wright, who was undergoing concussion protocol.
