Vikings guard Steve Hutchinson placed on injured reserve

Injured reserve for Steve Hutchinson

December 28, 2011 at 2:59PM

The Vikings have placed left guard Steve Hutchinson on injured reserve, ending his 2011 season. Hutchinson started the first 14 games this season but suffered a concussion during the Vikings' 42-20 home loss to New Orleans on Dec. 18. The 34-year-old veteran has played 11 NFL seasons, including the past six with the Vikings. He was unable to play last weekend against the Redskins and the Vikings have now decided to shut him down for the year.

To replace Hutchinson on the active roster, the Vikings have signed Jordan Todman off the Chargers' practice squad. Todman is a rookie running back out of Connecticut who was drafted by San Diego in the sixth round last April.
