Vikings enter final day of draft with seven picks

Vikings officials were unable to swing trade to get third-round pick

Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman said numerous times before the draft that he wanted to try and get a third-round pick back after giving away theirs in the Randy Moss trade.

It didn't happen. The Vikings were unable to make a deal that would bring them a third-round pick. That means they enter the final day of the draft Saturday with seven total picks.

Assuming they don't trade any, their selections are:

Fourth round (1): No. 106 overall

Fifth round (2): 139th, 150th

Sixth round (2): 172nd, 200th

Seventh round (2): 215th, 236th

"I think because this is a deep draft, if we don't move back into the third [Friday], we're going to have the ability to get a lot more players that are going to come in and help us," Spielman said. "To have a fourth, and two fives, and two sixes, and two sevens, and without college free agency, that's going to help you get some players at least you know you have."

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
