Vikings don't sign a wide receiver -- yet

Two veterans worked out for the team on Friday but neither was added to the roster.

With Percy Harvin out because of issues with migraine headaches and Sidney Rice on the physically unable to perform list with a hip injury, the Vikings decided to bring in two wide receivers for workouts on Friday.

Brandon Jones, released earlier this week by the San Francisco 49ers, and veteran Javon Walker both were at Winter Park and were given physicals. But at this point it appears as if the Vikings were simply kicking the tires on the two as neither was signed.

The Vikings' depth at wide receiver has become a real issue, especially with Jaymar Johnson having been waived/injured after breaking his left thumb in the preseason opener last Saturday in St. Louis.

There remains a possibility that Jones or Walker could be signed but Jones, for one, is going to continue to visit with teams. He was in Seattle this week and Sunday is scheduled to meet with the Oakland Raiders.

On another note, it sounds as if tight end Garrett Mills suffered a bruised knee in Friday's practice. Mills left the field and returned to the locker room after being hurt in a 7-on-7 drill.
