Vikings being cautious with Rice

The team is being careful with the wide receiver and thus had him sit out practice on Thursday.

It was a bit surprising to see that wide receiver Sidney Rice went from full participation in practice on Wednesday to sitting out on Thursday.

The obvious question involved whether Rice was having problems with his surgically repaired hip after playing a majority of the offensive snaps in his 2010 debut Sunday against Green Bay.

However, an NFL source said Thursday that Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier is simply being cautious with Rice and wants to make sure his workload doesn't become too much, too soon.

The media did not have access at Winter Park on Thursday because of the holiday but we'll get to talk to Frazier and the players after Friday's practice so we should learn more about the status of Rice and others on the injury report.
