The Vikings have agreed to terms with their first free agent.

Wide receiver Devin Aromashodu and the team came to terms on a one-year agreement that can be officially signed on Friday, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

The 27-year-old Aromashodu, who is 6-2, 201 pounds, fell out of favor with Bears coach Lovie Smith last season and was looking for a fresh start. His departure comes as no surprise. When it appeared he might be a restricted free agent before the lockout, Aromashodu was not extended a qualifying tender by the Bears.

He caught 10 passes for 149 yards with no touchdowns in 14 games last season and started twice. A seventh-round draft pick of the Dolphins in 2006, Aromashodu bounced from the Colts to the Texans to the Redskins in 2007 and 2008.

He then joined joined the Bears in 2008 and spent the season on the inactive list. The following season, he caught a career-high 24 passes for 298 yards and four touchdowns. This included seven receptions for 150 yards and the game-winning touchdown in a late December victory over the Vikings.

The Vikings will be looking to add depth at wide receiver, especially if free agent Sidney Rice departs.
