Vikings add tight end Jones to practice squad to replace departed Ford

November 18, 2015 at 12:49AM

The Vikings have signed tight end Dominique Jones to their practice squad, filling the spot that opened up when Chase Ford joined the Ravens.

Jones spent time on the practice squads of the Ravens and Giants this season. He finished the 2014 season on the active roster of the Broncos, who cut him after the 2015 preseason. He has also had stints with the Bills, Chiefs, Colts and Dolphins since joining the league in 2011.

The Vikings listed the 28-year-old at 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds.

Ford had been with the Vikings since 2012. He played 20 total games, including five starts last season, in 2013 and 2014. He was active just once in 2015, but didn't actually play in the Week 8 win over the Bears.

The Vikings waived Ford last week when cornerback Josh Robinson was added to the 53-man roster. Ford rejoined the practice squad on Friday. But a few days later, the Ravens, with an open active roster spot, came calling.
