Boy, interrupted

Matthew McConaughey stars in "White Boy Rick" (⋆⋆½), a tale of corruption in 1980s Detroit at the height of the war on drugs, based on a true story. McConaughey plays a blue-collar father whose 15-year-old son becomes the youngest FBI informant in history — and then a drug dealer who winds up being sentenced to life in prison. Directed by Yann Demange (" '71"), it also features Bel Powley ("Diary of a Teenage Girl"), Jennifer Jason Leigh ("The Hateful Eight"), Brian Tyree Henry ("Atlanta") and Bruce Dern ("Nebraska").
