Maplewood police released video from a surveillance camera at Hill-Murray School that captured part of a May 20 incident in which a woman was run down and seriously injured.

John T. Babcook, 21, of Centerville, pleaded guilty last week to first-degree assault charges in the attack on a 23-year-old Oakdale woman with his car after the two confronted each other earlier in their vehicles while driving north on Century Avenue (Hwy. 120).

Both vehicles steered west onto E. Larpenteur Avenue and into the Hill-Murray lot. The woman got out of her car.

Witnesses say Babcook tried to hit her with his car, missed, then drove over a median, striking her from behind.

The video is at startribune.com/video.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
