Vice President JD Vance will visit Minneapolis on Wednesday to pay respects to the victims of the Annunciation Catholic Church shooting.
The White House said in a statement Tuesday evening that Vance will be joined by his wife, Usha Vance.
The two will hold a series of private meetings “to convey condolences to the families of those affected by the tragedy.”
No other information was immediately available.
The visit will come exactly one week after a shooter opened fire on the south Minneapolis church during an all-school Mass, killing 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski, and injuring 21 others – most of them children.
Last week, Vance wrote on X that the White House was monitoring the shooting developments.
“Join all of us in praying for the victims!” he said.
Within hours of the Aug. 27 shooting, President Donald Trump ordered U.S. flags throughout the country to be flown at half-staff at public buildings and grounds as well as military posts.
