Apple Valley

Paideia Academy. Celebration will include outdoor flag ceremony, indoor assembly with K-8 students, appearances by former Army chaplain Mike Lotzer and former platoon leader and author Craig MacIntosh. 9-11 a.m., 7200 147th St. W. 612-229-1488.

Cottage Grove

Park High School. Ceremony, 10:30 a.m., school gymnasium. Participating veterans asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m., lecture hall. 8040 80th St.

Excelsior

St. John the Baptist Catholic School. Program will feature performances by St. John's K-8th grade students, a talk by parishioner and veteran Frank Orr, refreshments. Veterans plus a guest invited. 9-10 a.m., 638 Mill St. RSVPs suggested, 952-474-5812.

Forest Lake

Inver Grove Heights

State of Minnesota Veterans Day Celebration, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. Event will feature state and congressional officials, enlisted members of U.S. armed forces, Inver Grove Heights elementary students, Miss Minnesota, 34th Infantry Division Band. Visitors may write holiday cards to deployed service members, courtesy of the American Red Cross. Minneapolis

Lake Minnetonka Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. "Plant a Flag for Freedom" event in Heritage Park.
