A driver ran over and killed a man walking along a dark western Wisconsin highway Thursday, then left the scene, authorities said.

Logan L. Paulson, 26, of Almena, Wis., was hit by the vehicle "sometime during the night" along Hwy. 8 near the southern tip of Upper Turtle Lake, said Barron County Capt. Ron Baures.

Paulson's body was discovered about 7:20 a.m., just as daybreak was taking hold, Baures added.

Baures said authorities know virtually nothing about the vehicle, except that it was white.

Paulson was a full-time card dealer at the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, located about 3 miles west of where his body was found. An executive with the casino said he last worked on Saturday.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Sheriff's Office at 1-715-537-3106.
