Va. governor: Daughter returned $15K wedding check to donor; no timetable for other returns

RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell says one of his daughters has returned the $15,000 check given to her by a major campaign donor and businessman for her wedding two years ago.

The governor is under federal and state investigations for the relationship Star Scientific chief executive Jonnie Williams has with Virginia's first family and the thousands of dollars' worth of gifts they received from Williams. McDonnell had announced Tuesday he plans to return all gifts still in the family's possession.

That includes a $6,500 Rolex watch, the wedding check to 28-year-old Cailin and a $10,000 check to McDonnell's eldest daughter, 32-year-old Jeanine, for her May wedding that has already been returned to Williams.

McDonnell told reporters Wednesday he hasn't calculated the total value of the gifts being returned to Williams or settled on a timetable for returning the gifts.
