Pete Carroll's decision to leave Southern California and take over as coach of the Seattle Seahawks has not taken the Trojans off Seantrel Henderson's recruiting list, the father of the Cretin-Derham Hall offensive lineman said Monday.

"Maybe it's the best thing for somebody like Seantrel or other recruits," Sean Henderson said. "Maybe USC gets a clean slate now, gets some new guys in there and this becomes a new USC." Seantrel Henderson, who was named the national offensive player of the year by USA Today last month, received another national honor last week when he was named the recipient of the Anthony Munoz Lineman of the Year award during U.S. Army All-America bowl festivities in San Antonio. The news of Carroll's probable departure from USC came the same day as the award. Carroll is the second coach to leave a school in which Henderson is interested. The first was Charlie Weis, who was fired at Notre Dame. Urban Meyer's status at Florida -- where he announced that he was stepping down but now is appraently staying on as coach -- also has added to the uncertainty. "It's been kind of hard," said Sean Henderson. "He's trying to make sound decisions and then something like that happens. We're more concerned with the fact that he gets close to a lot of these coaches. What's important are the relationships between him and the line coaches." Seantrel Henderson spoke with USC offensive line coach Jim Ruel last week, according to his father. "We haven't heard back from anybody at USC since then. We're waiting to hear who replaces [Carroll] and what the staff will look like." Ruel reportedly will join Carroll in Seattle. Henderson has made official visits to USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida. Also on his list are Oklahoma, Miami, Iowa and Minnesota, and his fifth visit has not been determined. That decision will be made soon, said Sean Henderson. "We're sitting back right now waiting to see what happens with everything," he said. John Millea is on Twitter at twitter.com/stribjohn
