Upper Midwest Severe Weather Threat

September 26, 2009 at 7:25PM

Marked cool and strong, gusty winds will not be the only outwardmanifestations of a vigorous cold front that will sweep into the northern tierof states on Sunday. Thunderstorms, a few of them strong enough to unleashlocalized severe weather, will erupt over a fairly small area, mostly on Sundayafternoon into Sunday night.Strong thunderstorms will erupt over upper Michigan and Wisconsin during theafternoon on Sunday. Early, strong storms will shift eastward, crossing LakeMichigan to Lower Michigan. Along the way, cities like Milwaukee, Madison,Green Bay, Grand Rapids and Flint could be effected.

For the most part, potentially damaging winds of 60 mph as well as hail will bethe severe weather threats. True, a lone tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
