A quick update on a couple rehabbing players.
Reliever Matt Capps started and pitched a scoreless inning on Monday, striking out one, for Class A Fort Myers as he works his way back from a sore shoulder. He threw seven pitches. The plan is for him to pitch another inning on Wednesday when the Miracle travel to Clearwater.
If all goes well, Capps could re-join the Twins in time for Friday's game against Oakland.
Righthander Kyle Gibson, on the comeback trail following Tommy John surgery last year, pitched a scoreless inning on Tuesday for the Twins rookie team in the Gulf Coast League. In 15 pitches, he got a groundout, issued a walk then got an inning-ending double play. It was his first game action since July 22 of last year.
Gibson's fastball was measured at 91-94 miles an hour.
The Twins hope Gibson can make minor league starts in August. During the offseason, the club hopes to have him pitch in the Arizona Fall League.
