After several cryptic opening dates (the last one being "late spring"), it sounds like Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill is set to open in the coming days. An employee who answered the phone Thursday said the supersized country/sports bar in St. Louis Park could even open tonight.
I was told the bar will most likely announce its precise opening on its Facebook page (which has almost 5,000 followers). I also was told country singer Lee Brice is scheduled to perform at the bar Tuesday and a grand opening party is being planned for July. No word if Keith will attend the grand opening, as he's done in the past for the chain's other locations.
The gigantic bar (14,700 square feet) is located next to Cooper at the Shops at the West End. Named for Keith's hit song, "I Love This Bar," the spot will feature an 88-foot guitar-shaped bar and 38 high-definition televisions. Capacity tops out at about 850 people. Expect to see live bands and dancing six nights a week.
Oh, and don't forget about that rumored mechanical bull (named Toby).
