Update: Peanut recall

March 10, 2009 at 1:38AM

The continuing recall of peanut products linked to the salmonella outbreak now exceeds 3,200.

The latest recalls are products that used ingredients from a second plant, in Texas, owned by Peanut Corp. of America. Earlier recalls were related to its Georgia plant. Peanut butter sold retail in jars still is not affected, but a long list of other products including cereal, candy, snack mixes, cookies and pet food have been recalled by more than 280 companies.

Consumers can check a searchable recall database at www.fda.gov.
