UPCOMING ACTIONS

COLUMBIA HEIGHTS

Monday: The City Council will hold a public hearing to consider creating a zoning district for parks and open space. The new designation would require that parks, city buildings and other public facilities have the same parking requirements, setbacks and development restrictions. About 168 acres would be included in the new zoning category, including City Hall, Murzyn Hall, Jackson Pond, and the Columbia Heights Library. The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 590 40th Av. NE.

BROOKLYN PARK

Tuesday: The city is holding the second in a series of meetings for residents to talk about the future of the Huntington Pointe Apartments site. Before the city demolishes the apartments later this year, officials are working with the Corridor Housing Initiative and Hennepin County to come up with ideas for what will be built on the site. The meetings are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Zanewood Recreation Center, 7100 Zane Av. N. For more information, visit www.brooklynpark.org.
