NEXT OPPONENT: DETROIT (4-4)

The Lions, with three straight wins, were potential playoff contenders but lost momentum after a disappointing finish against the Texans.

OPPONENT WEEK 8

Houston 20, Detroit 13

Two questionable decisions by Jim Caldwell in the second half were pivotal late in the game and may have cost the Lions the win. Another big downer: The Lions converted only three third downs all game .

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Matthew Stafford, quarterback

Stafford, left, is having a terrific season, having thrown for 15 touchdowns. The Lions couldn't build on that against the Texans, but Stafford is having one of the best years of his career.

OUTLOOK

The Lions are good enough to upset the Vikings, but the Vikings should be healthy enough to hold Detroit off. Outlook: Horns up.
