'Unwitnessed death' on I-94 in Minneapolis under investigation

December 5, 2015 at 10:20PM

Minneapolis police are investigating after a body was found on Interstate 94 near downtown Minneapolis on Saturday morning.

An "unwitnessed death" that "does not appear [to be the result of] a hit & run crash" resulted in two lanes of westbound 94 near Groveland Avenue being shut down for a time, the patrol's Lt. Tiffani Schweigart wrote in a tweet.

Police are spearheading the investigation, she said. The Hennepin County medical examiner will determine the person's cause and manner of death.
