Southern California through the Desert Southwest will bask under warmsunshine again on Monday as high pressure shunts all Pacific storms far to thenorth. In Southern California, the lack of onshore flow, with its usual clouds and fogpatches, will allow for plentiful sunshine and temperatures well above normal.
Indeed, temperatures breaching 80 F for a second day in the Los Angeles basincould put record highs to the test. The Los Angeles, downtown, high mark is 83F set in 1952.
Likewise, temperatures inland will climb to about the historic highs, which areupper 70s and 80s, for the date in areas from Palm Springs, Cal., east toPhoenix and Tucson. Here, too, sunshine will abound.
Although no meaningful rain is in the offing, at least through this week, anend to the exceptional warmth can be seen. Beginning on Tuesday, light onshoreflow bearing a few clouds will trim sunshine as well as temperatures inSouthern California.
And the deserts will also tend to cool a little as well.
