Unruly plane passenger left in Minneapolis after flight diverted

February 9, 2014 at 2:13PM

A Delta Air Lines flight from Baltimore was diverted to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, where an unruly passenger was removed and taken to a local hospital Friday night, officials said.

Airport officials did not release the name of the woman, who allegedly bothered other passengers.

Flight 1189 from Baltimore bound for Salt Lake City was diverted to MSP, where airport police met the plane and removed her. The flight continued to Salt Lake City, said Eric Torberson, a Delta spokesman.

Airport officials did not release the name of the woman.

She was intoxicated and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for observation, said Patrick Hogan, spokesman for the Metropolitan Airports Commission.

Because the incident occurred midflight, any possible charges would be filed federally after referral to prosecutors, either by the FBI or Transportation Security Administration, Hogan said.
