Authorities are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found in the attic of a garage at a vacant south Minneapolis home over the weekend, but there are no obvious signs of foul play, police said.

The house, which is for sale, has been vacant for at least a year, Realtor Wendy Abdel-Aziz said Sunday.

Abdel-Aziz said she and the owner were discussing strategies on Saturday for selling it. When the owner visited the property later that afternoon, he found the body and called police.

"It looks like it was probably somebody who was living in the garage, a squatter," she said Sunday.

Police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer said the dead man hasn't been identified. The Hennepin County medical examiner conducted an autopsy Sunday and continues to investigate.

The house, on the 4400 block of 35th Avenue S. in Minneapolis, is for sale at $165,000.

Abdel-Aziz said she held an open house there about a month ago, and has shown the house since then, "and the body was probably in the garage at the time. ... He's been there for quite a while."
