Underage drinking issue pops up again at UND

Four UND hockey players are in trouble and coach Dave Hakstol isn't happy about it.

Remember when North Dakota suspended seven players for at least a game at the start of the hockey season last fall?

The suspensions came after a team party where there was underage drinking.

UND is dealing with a similar issue again.

"We had the incident last fall; that jolted everybody," UND coach DaveHakstol said, according to a story in the Grand Forks Herald. "It resulted in our team making some good adjustments. We did the right things through the entire season. But the incidents and the decisions that have come since the end of the season just don't meet the standards."

Freshman goalie Zane Gothberg, 20, received a citation for underage drinking March 31 after the team's return from the West Regional.

Two other players -- Colten St. Clair, 20, and Ben Chyzyk, 20 -- received citations for the same behavior last week and sophomore forward Stephane Pattyn, 22, received a noise citation.

"This is going to cost some people significant scholarship dollars," Hakstol said in the same Herald story.

Gothberg and Chyzyk were cited for underage drinking last September, too.
