Interested applicants should apply online by April 15.

In another sign that opening day is near for U.S. Bank Stadium, the hiring process is kicking into gear.

Some 2,500 part-time hospitality workers will be hired to work at the new $1.1 billion stadium scheduled to open in August for a Luke Bryan concert and the 2016 NFL preseason.

SMG, the company marketing and managing the 66,200-seat facility, has scheduled a three-day hiring fair beginning April 26 on the first level of the Minneapolis Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Interested applicants, however, shouldn't wait because the application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on April 15.

The jobs are in the areas of guest experience, event security, housekeeping, retail, catering and food service. Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority chair Michele Kelm-Helgen said the employees will be the "face of U.S. Bank Stadium's Minnesota hospitality."

She called the jobs "another example of the ongoing economic impact this stadium has for the state."

The range of pay, number of hours and/or existence of benefits for the jobs hasn't been determined. Jenn Hathaway, spokeswoman for the MSFA, said the part-time staff will be part of a union based on their job. "Our goal is to be competitive with the rest of the Minneapolis and greater Minnesota markets," she said.

Applications will be screened before the upcoming event. Walk-ins will be helped, but interview opportunities will be limited. The applications, available at usbankstadium.com, must be received by the deadline.

The stadium will be the new home of the Minnesota Vikings and the site of the 2018 Super Bowl and the 2019 NCAA Final Four. But the building will play host to events all year-round including concerts, monster truck shows, college and high school games, weddings, parties, conventions, trade and consumer shows, corporate meetings and other private events.

Multiple partners will participate in the hiring fair, including the Vikings, Aramark, Main Gate Retail and the security and cleaning companies. All are seeking part-time employees.
