U Rochester welcomes its first chancellor

Stephen Lehmkuhle is the first chancellor in the campus' history

The University of Minnesota, Rochester was formally established as a campus in November 2006. It got its first chancellor, Stephen Lehmkuhle, Friday. Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede proclaimed Friday as Chancellor Stephen Lehmkuhle Day. Lehmkuhle, who was inaugurated Friday, served as vice president for academic affairs and as senior vice president for academic affairs in the University of Missouri system. He also served as an interim chancellor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Lehmkuhle earned his Ph.D. in experimental psychology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. The Rochester campus offers more than 35 graduate and undergraduate academic programs, conducts research and pursues outreach services focusing on health sciences and biotechnology. It offers degrees in business, education, graphic design, public health and social work. TIM HARLOW
