Star Apple Valley guard Tyus Jones did not play Thursday night after spraining his left ankle in Wednesday's practice.

It was the fourth game the top recruit has missed this season. Back problems forced Jones to exit a Dec. 18 game against Hopkins and he subsequently missed the next three games before returning on Jan. 5.

The injury doesn't appear to be too serious, though, as Jones is day-to-day and said he should be ready to go by next week.

A bad ankle won't stop his weekend plans to take an unofficial visit to the University of Kentucky. Though NCAA rules allow him to start taking official visits as of this past week, Jones said he won't take any officials until after the high school season.

Jones is considered the top point guard in the 2014 graduating class and has said that he is considering eight schools, including No. 1-ranked Dule and Minnesota.

Without Jones in the lineup, the Eagles (ranked No. 2 in Class 4A) defeated Burnsville 73-44. Jones is averaging 20.3 points and 6.5 assists per game this season.
