Justice is finally catching up with the couple that cheated an elderly woman out of her home of 50 years. On Monday, Shelley Lee Milless of Chaska was sentenced to two years in federal prison for a corrupt mortgage scheme that fleeced troubled homeowners and unwitting investors.

Her ex-husband, Timothy Lynn Beliveau, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in March to money laundering and tax evasion. Perhaps their oldest victim was Telsche Paulson, now 87. In 2008, she told Whistleblower her story of being tricked into selling her Minneapolis duplex in 2004.

Last year, Paulson was awarded $116,972 from a state fund for victims of unscrupulous real estate professionals. But it did not get her home back.

Milless initially blamed her former spouse for the crimes, but pleaded guilty last year to tax evasion.
