Two of three men who escaped from a regional prison in New Richmond, Wis., were captured Friday, said Police Chief Mark Samelstad.

Kyle J. Peterson, 19, was arrested about 7 a.m. at a house in Whitewater, Wis., after police received a tip of his whereabouts. He was being held in the Walworth County jail, Samelstad said.

Andre L. Vance, 21, was caught in Madison, Wis., about 3 p.m. He was being held in Dane County.

The third prisoner who escaped from the minimum-security St. Croix Correctional Center on Wednesday night, Jesse J. Fairley, remains a fugitive. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the St. Croix County Dispatch Center at 1-715-386-4704 or Detective Craig Yehlik at the New Richmond Police Department at 1-715-246-6667.

It is not believed that Fairley is currently hiding in New Richmond, Samelstad said.

Residents were being encouraged to go about their daily routines but keep their homes locked as a precaution.

New Richmond police described Fairley, 26, at 5 feet 8 and 142 pounds.

The St. Croix Correctional Center houses 126 prisoners who undergo military-style discipline and regimentation, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
