'Fuse/Surprise Party'

In this dual solo exhibition, Minneapolis artists Tara Costello and Ashely Peifer take their own approach to the creative process. Costello is most concerned with the relationship between abstraction and landscape, creating new ways to merge the two seemingly disparate forms. A waterfall appears more like a meditative abstract painting; a river shimmers like a piece of glossy paper. While Costello looks to the natural and man-made, Peifer's work journeys inward psychologically, focusing on the experience of memories as they fade and shift over time. In her mixed-media pieces, she uses colorful shapes and myriad fabrics along with streaks and splotches of paint to illustrate nostalgia that seems to seep through the canvas. (Noon-4 p.m. Sat.-Sun. Closes Jan. 28. Rosalux Gallery, 1400 NE. Van Buren St., #195, Mpls. Free. rosaluxgallery.com)

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
