Interesting.
Sci-fi fans everywhere are simultaneously horrified and thrilled:
Bud Yorkin? I'd forgotten that. With Norman Lear, he was the producer of "All in the Family," "Maude," "Sanford and Son," "Good Times," and later "What's Happening!" Not the sort of fare you associate with a moody sci-fi noir. It would have been quite different if Redd Foxx had played Roy Batty, eh? 'L'zbeth! I'm comin' to see you! First I have to go push my creator's eyes out, then I'll be right there with you in heaven.
Haven't seen the movie in a while, and can't remember if I saw the Director's Cut, the Final Director's Cut, the Special Edition, or the Collector's Special Edition. It's a great film in any version, narration or no narration. Could a prequel or sequel be as good? It's possible, although the visual style won't seem as unusual to us now, because we've been watching other movies steal the look for the last 29 years.
Just a warning to any company who thinks it would be cool to have their logo in the movie: don't.
