Minneapolis school board members Josh Reminitz and Tracine Asberry may no longer seek re-election after they failed to receive the Democratic party endorsement over the weekend.

"My current plan is not to run and abide by the endorsement," said Reminitz Monday. Reminitz, represents downtown, the Isles neighborhoods and Bryn Mawr. The party endorsement went to Bob Walser, an educator whose wife is also a teacher.

Asberry, who represents Southwest Minneapolis, could not be reached for comment, but said at Sunday's convention that she would not run without the DFL endorsement, according to the party's chair Dan McConnell and others at the convention.

The endorsement for her seat went to Ira Jourdain, who ran for the citywide seat in 2014.

Others receiving the party's endorsement were KerryJo Felder, who is running for the seat representing north Minneapolis currently held by Kim Ellison, and Ellison, who is seeking the citywide seat now held by Carla Bates, who is not seeking reelection.

All of the DFL-endorsed candidates were also endorsed by the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers.

Reminitz and Asberry did not garner the party's endorsement when they were elected in 2012.
