Two killed on Interstate 94 near Osakis

September 28, 2016 at 3:48AM

A pickup truck crashed into a semitrailer truck parked on the shoulder of Interstate 94 Tuesday morning in west-central Minnesota, then was rear-ended by another truck, killing both men in the pickup.

The driver of the pickup, Calvin L. Hess, 40, of Kenmare, N.D., and passenger Myron M. Bishop, 39, of Thompson Falls, Mont., were traveling west on I-94 when they apparently veered onto the right shoulder and hit the parked truck, according to the State Patrol. The crash occurred about 2 miles west of the Osakis exit and shutdown the westbound lanes for several hours.

The pickup, which was partly still in the lane of traffic, was then hit from behind by a westbound semi. The driver of that vehicle, Larry S. Winter of Hoffman, Minn., suffered noncritical injuries.
