Two drivers die in crashes in Minnesota

A 20-year-old woman from Altura, Minn., was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Olmsted County.

Amelia J. Speltz was driving a 2005 Toyota Avalon south on County Road 8 in High Forest Township when she went through a stop sign at Hwy. 30 and collided with an eastbound semitrailer truck, according to the State Patrol. The crash happened at 11:33 a.m.

Speltz, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The rig driver, Marlon Davis, 50, of St. James, was not hurt.

On Wednesday, a Little Falls man was killed and another person was injured in a two-car crash in central Minnesota's Morrison County.

Christian Seidl, 41, was driving east on 213th Street at 7:44 a.m. when his vehicle collided with a truck at 175th Avenue, 2 miles east of Hwy. 371 north of Little Falls, according to Sheriff Shawn Larsen.

Seidl died at the scene. The truck driver, Nickolas Retka, 24, of Little Falls, was traveling south on 175th Avenue when the collision occurred, Larsen said.

Retka was injured, but his condition was not immediately known.
