Two people were killed Saturday when a pickup truck going the wrong way collided head-on with their SUV on a highway in Randolph, according to the State Patrol.

The victims were Peter Foxvong Olson, 68, and Patricia Ann Olson, 49, both of Apple Valley. The pickup truck driver, Seth John Nechville, 28, of Kenyon, Minn., was treated for noncritical injuries at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

According to the State Patrol, Nechville was driving north in the southbound lanes of Hwy. 56, near the Cannon River in Randolph, when he collided with the southbound SUV driven by Peter Olson. The crash occurred just after 11 a.m.

All three people in the crash were wearing seatbelts, but authorities said that alcohol was a factor in the crash and that Nechville may have been drinking.

Responders included the Randolph Fire Department, Cannon Falls paramedics, and sheriff’s deputies with Dakota and Goodhue counties.
