Two men were killed on Friday when the minivan in which they were riding hit an icy patch and rolled several times in Renville County.

Dead are Jose Lopez Deleon, 31, and Julio A. Giron, 23, both of Willmar, the Renville County Sheriff's Office said.

They were riding in a 2001 Dodge Caravan driven by Jose Prado-Marquez, 39, of Willmar. He and another passenger, Ramon Contreras, 50, of Willmar, were taken to Hutchinson Community Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Prado-Marquez was northbound when the minivan hit a patch of ice and snow, authorities said. He was wearing a seat belt, but it wasn't clear if the surviving passenger was wearing one. The men who died were not belted and were ejected from the vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.
