Two Cottage Grove men have been charged with possessing child pornography on two laptop computers that police found in their house.

Adam D. Simonds, 32, and Dean A. Simonds, 37, were charged Feb. 4 in Washington County District Court.

Adam Simonds told a detective and a police officer that he accidentally downloaded images of child pornography onto his computer and couldn't find a way to delete them. Dean Simonds told police that he didn't have any child pornography on his computer, according to the criminal complaint.

A forensic analysis by the Woodbury Police Department, however, showed dozens of images on both computers of children in sexual positions, the complaint said. A photo of two young boys exposing themselves was in use as a "screen saver" image on one of the computers, the complaint said.

The Simondses, who told police they had been legally married in Iowa, were each charged with one felony count.

They are scheduled for initial court appearances March 16.
