TWINS UPDATE

Justin Morneau wants to take better at-bats and make pitchers come into him, and he wants to stop missing mistake pitches. The latter happened Sunday when he hit a two-run homer to right-center in the fourth inning. Morneau is batting .333 with three home runs and 12 RBI over his past 22 games. ... Reliever Jared Burton has not allowed a run in his past 16 appearances, totaling 162/3 innings. ... The Twins are batting .340 through three games of the homestand with five doubles, one triple, four home runs and 28 runs scored. They also have stolen nine bases.

WHITE SOX UPDATE

Former Twin A.J. Pierzynski is battling a minor oblique strain but should be able to play Tuesday -- when Liriano pitches for the first time as a member of the White Sox. That would create a pitcher-catcher battery of two people who once were traded for each other. ... Chicago called up switch-hitting infielder Rey Olmedo to replace Eduardo Escobar, who was dealt to the Twins on Saturday night. ... The trade for Liriano enables Chicago to give lefthander Chris Sale a break. Sale said he's going through a dead-arm period.
