Two pitchers acquired at the trade deadline could make their Twins debuts this weekend.

TWINS UPDATE

The Twins (58-69) open a six-game road trip after finishing a 1-5 homestand by getting swept by the Athletics with an 8-3 loss on Thursday. They have lost eight of their last 10 games, are 7-12 this month.

Two pitchers acquired at the trade deadline, Mick Abel (Phillies) and Taj Bradley (Rays) could be called up from St. Paul to start games this weekend. ... The Twins and White Sox are playing for the first time since April. The Twins lead the season series 4-2. They are 25-38 on the road and 17-21 vs. AL Central teams and 26-7 against the White Sox — including 12-5 at Rate Field — since the beginning of the 2023 season.

RHP Pablo López (right teres major strain), who has been sidelined since June 4, started a rehab assignment for the Triple-A Saints on Thursday in St. Paul. ... RHP Simeon Woods Richardson (illness), who is on a rehab assignment with the Saints, also pitched Thursday.

C Christian Vázquez (left shoulder infection), RHP David Festa (right shoulder inflammation), LHP Anthony Misiewicz (left pectoral strain) and OF Alan Roden (left thumb sprain) are out.

After the weekend visit to Chicago, the Twins will play three games at Toronto. ... The Twins and White Sox will close out the season series with a four-game series Sept. 1-4 at Target Field.

CHICAGO UPDATE

The White Sox (45-82) open a 10-game homestand — the longest of their season — after going 1-5 on a road trip, which ended with a 1-0 loss to the Braves on Wednesday in Atlanta. ... They are 3-13 in their last 16 games after winning 10 of their first 14 after the All-Star break.

The White Sox have surpassed last year’s season victory total (41) but are still on a pace to lose 100 games for the third consecutive season. ... The White Sox are 15-46 in games decided by one run.

OF Luis Robert Jr. is fifth in the AL with stolen 31 bases — the most by a White Sox player since 2010. ... Rookie C Kyle Teel, who was 6-for-12 with two home runs and five RBI in the three-game series in Atlanta, is hitting .304 with four home runs and 12 RBI since the All-Star Break. He is hitting .270 on the season. ... Rookie C Edgar Quero leads MLB with five catcher pickoffs — tied for the most in franchise history (Bill Nahorodny in 1978).

2B Lenyn Sosa is hitting .296 (24-for-81) with eight home runs and 18 RBI in 21 games since July 28. On the season, he is hitting .271 with 17 home runs and 55 RBI. ... RHP Elvis Pequero (right elbow strain) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday, RHP Owen White (right hip impingement), who was placed on the injured list Tuesday, and RHPs Dan Altavilla (right lat strain) and Miguel Castro (patellar tendon tear in right knee) are out.
