TWINS UPDATE

The Twins find themselves tied for first place with Kansas City in the AL Central after winning five in a row and seven of eight. They are 17-6 in Target Field, the best home record in the AL, and have won 12 of their past 14 home games. … They are 18-6 in May, tied for fifth-most in that month in team history. A sweep would tie the team record of 21 May victories, set in 1990. … They went 4-2 against Toronto in 2014, breaking a streak of eight consecutive seasons losing the season series. They are 5-12 all-time against the Blue Jays at Target Field and have been swept twice. … Gibson pitched eight scoreless innings against Toronto last season, his only career start against the Blue Jays. He is attempting to become only the fourth Twins starter of the past 20 years (minimum six starts) to enter June with an ERA below 3.00. … RF Torii Hunter has faced Buehrle more than any pitcher in his career; in 94 plate appearances, Hunter owns a .247 batting average and three home runs, but has never drawn a walk.

BLUE JAYS UPDATE

Toronto is only 11-15 in May but won three in a row before losing 5-3 in 10 innings to the White Sox at home Wednesday. That game was sent to extra innings by a Josh Donaldson homer off David Robertson, one day after Donaldson's three-run shot off Robertson gave the Blue Jays a 10-9 walk-off victory. … The Blue Jays are 8-15 on the road and have lost seven of their past eight. … Four former Twins — RHP R.A. Dickey, RHP Liam Hendriks, OF Chris Colabello and 3B Danny Valencia — are on their roster. IF-OF Steve Tolleson was drafted by the Twins in 2005 and spent five seasons in the organization. … Colabello is on an eight-game hitting streak in which he's batting .419. He is batting .386 with 10 extra-base hits in 22 games since being recalled. … No pitcher has started more games (50), pitched more innings (341) or recorded more victories (28) against the Twins than Buehrle. The 36-year-old lefthander is 28-19 with a 3.68 ERA in 341 innings vs. the Twins. … Toronto has not recorded a save since May 4.
