Twins-Royals: A brief delay, and then they will play

The Twins will now have a 13-man pitching staff, which makes sense given the struggles on the mound recently

Was told that the start of today's game has been pushed back to 12:30 p.m.

Outfielder Darin Mastroianni has a strained left oblique muscle, something he said came up while the team was in Detroit last week. So the Twins on Wednesday placed him on the 15-day disabled list.

To replace him on the roster, the Twins called up lefthander Buddy Boshers from Class AAA Rochester, where he was 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 15 games with the Red Wings. Twins manager Paul Molitor said Boshers has been stretched out recently, which factored in the decision to call him up. With the way things are going with the pitching staff, they need someone who can eat up innings if needed.

``We've been talking about going to 13 pitchers for a while," Molitor said.

Fans are clamoring for righthander J.T. Chargois, who throws gas. Boshers, who pitched in 25 games with the Dodgers in 2013, throws around 90 miles and hour. Eddie Guardado and LaTroy Hawkins helped him with his change up during spring training, and he's not afraid to use it.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Boshers, the Twins moved Lefthander Glen Perkins to the 60-day DL. That was an inevitable move, since Perkins has been out since early April and is not close to returning.

It's raining now, but the Twins think they can get this game in. The Royals are looking to be the latest team to sweep the Twins in a series.
