The Twins have teamed with their spring training neighbors, the Red Sox, to assist with hurricane relief in southwest Florida.
Each club is donating $100,000 to the Southwest Florida Community Organization, which will use the funds to help with recovery after Hurricane Irma caused damage throughout the area. Many residents remain without power.
Both the Twins and Red Sox sustained wind damage at their Fort Myers facilities, and it led to the delay of the beginning of instructional league. But the Twins hope to have their facility operational by the end of next week, and plan to begin instructional league about that time.

Vielma to Giants
Infielder Engelb Vielma, designated for assignment by the Twins to make room on the 40-man roster for Gabriel Moya, was claimed off waivers by San Francisco. Vielma, 23, hit only .206 in 87 games at Rochester after getting promoted from Class AA Chattanooga.
