BOSTON — The Twins will have to wait a day, at least, to see if their May success carries over into June.

Their game Monday night in Fenway Park, the first of a four-game series with the Red Sox, has been postponed, the teams announced Monday afternoon, due to persistent showers that are expected to grow stronger as the day wears on. The game will be made up Wednesday at 1:35 p.m., part of a split-admission doubleheader.

More rain is in Tuesday's forecast. The teams are scheduled to play night games Tuesday and Wednesday, then a 3:10 p.m. game on Thursday, before the Twins return home to begin a weekend series against Milwaukee in Target Field.

The Twins just concluded a 20-7 May, and opened the day in first place in the AL Central, owners of the best record in the AL. It's the first time they've entered June with the league's best record since 1977.

This is the Twins' first rainout of the season. Since it will be made up before July, it won't affect Ervin Santana's July 4 return date from his 80-game suspension.
