TWINS UPDATE

The Twins are visiting Citi Field for the first time since 2010 when they lost to Mike Pelfrey, beat Johan Santana and had Denard Span as a leadoff hitter. … Kurt Suzuki needed five stitches on his chin Wednesday after taking a foul ball off his mask. He is a .385 career hitter against Colon. … The Twins are 8-9 in interleague play this season. … Ervin Santana has made five career starts against the Mets, going 3-2 with a 3.00 ERA. … With Miguel Sano out indefinitely (back), look for Eduardo Escobar to continue to get starts at third base, with James Beresford getting a chance against lefthanded starters. … Manager Paul Molitor said he will probably stop using reliever Ryan Pressly in back-to-back games the rest of the season. Pressly is tied for the AL lead with 69 appearances. … Of Kennys Vargas' 30 hits, 17 have been for extra bases. … Eddie Rosario is batting .310 since being called up July 3.

METS UPDATE

IF Wilmer Flores has been slowed because of a sore right wrist stemming from a home plate collision Saturday against Atlanta. Flores was to have the wrist examined Thursday. He has hit lefties well this season, so he would be an option to face Twins lefthanded relievers. … This is the first time the teams have met since the Mets swept the Twins in three games at Target Field in 2013. … Former Twins C Rene Rivera has taken over much of the catching duties since Travis d'Arnaud has struggled this season. … The last time Colon faced the Twins was in 2013 — when he was 40. Pitching for Oakland then, Colon shut out the Twins for six innings on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts as he improved to 17-6. … The Mets have hit 197 homers, third most in team history.
