Twins catcher Joe Mauer was going to play in every game of the Tigers series, but manager Ron Gardenhire said on Tuesday that nothing was serious with the All-Star.
Gardenhire noted that the Twins are playing 27 games in 27 day and just wanted to be careful.
But Mauer was pulled from the starting lineup about an hour before the first pitch when he reported dizziness during batting practice. Mauer was scheduled to play first base on Tuesday. Josh Willingham moves to DH. Justin Morneau moves to first base. Chris Herrmann moves to Mauer's No. 2 spot in the order.
We'll have more on this after the game.
Righthander Samuel Deduno will throw in the bullpen on Wednesday and, if that goes well, he will make his start on Friday against Cleveland.
Outfielder Oswaldo Arcia is out tonight because his sore left wrist has flared up.
In both cases, the Twins are concerned about getting all the truth out of each player.
Twins assistant General Manager Rob Antony said of Deduno, ``It's a little tricky. He's not giving straight answers as to when he can go or not, so we are going to see how things go tomorrow and make our call on how things go."
